Ways to ask your wedding party that don't feel like a chore
"Will you be my bridesmaid" boxes and matching group photoshoots have become their own small industry, but the elaborate version isn't required, and a simple, sincere ask often means just as much to the person receiving it.
Low-effort options that still land well
- A phone call or in-person conversation, said plainly and directly
- A handwritten card, given in person if possible
- A small group dinner where you ask everyone together
If you want to do something bigger
A small proposal box (a card, a small gift, a treat) works well and doesn't require the same coordination as a group reveal. Save the elaborate group photoshoot version for a friend group that would genuinely enjoy planning that kind of event together, rather than assuming everyone wants it.
What matters more than the method
Asking each person somewhat privately, even if you're asking several people in the same week, rather than making it a group announcement where someone might feel put on the spot to say yes in front of others.
