Building a real backup plan for an outdoor ceremony, not just a hopeful forecast check

An outdoor ceremony backup plan is often treated as a formality mentioned once during the venue tour and never revisited. A real backup plan gets tested with the specific vendors and specific space it would actually use.

Confirm the backup space can hold the ceremony

A ballroom that comfortably fits reception seating might not fit a ceremony layout with an aisle and rows of chairs facing forward. Ask your venue to walk you through exactly how the space converts, not just confirm that a backup exists.

Check what has to move, and who moves it

Florals, an arch, chairs, all need relocating if the ceremony moves indoors at short notice. Confirm with your venue or coordinator specifically who handles that move and how long it takes, since this usually isn't something the couple should be managing on the day itself.

Decide the trigger in advance

"We'll decide the morning of based on the forecast" sounds reasonable but leaves too much ambiguity. A specific rule, over a certain rain probability by a certain hour, the ceremony moves indoors, removes the guesswork and the stress of a last-minute judgment call.
