Signature cocktails that guests will actually order twice
A signature cocktail is one of the cheapest ways to add personality to a reception, but the ones that get remembered aren't necessarily the most complicated. Simple, well-balanced, and easy for a busy bar to make quickly tends to win over anything elaborate.
Two, not five
One cocktail per partner, maybe a third non-alcoholic option, is plenty. A long list of signature drinks slows the bar line and dilutes the personal-touch effect that makes a signature cocktail worth doing in the first place.
Base it on something with real meaning
- The drink you ordered on your first date
- A cocktail from the city where you got engaged
- A family recipe reworked into a cocktail (a grandparent's sangria, a favorite holiday punch)
Keep the ingredient list short
A drink with three or four ingredients gets made faster and more consistently across a busy bar than one requiring five specialty ingredients and a shaker step for every single pour. Test the recipe with your actual bartender ahead of time, not just at home.
