All-inclusive resort or independent travel: which honeymoon style actually suits you

This gets framed online as a status argument (independent travel is somehow more sophisticated, all-inclusive is somehow lazy) when really it's just a question of what kind of trip actually relaxes you. Both are completely legitimate honeymoon formats.

All-inclusive works well if

  • You've just spent a year making decisions for the wedding and want zero more of them for a week
  • You want a predictable daily food and drink cost with no surprises on the final bill
  • You'd rather have amenities on-site (multiple pools, a spa, several restaurants) than explore a wider area
  • One or both of you find restaurant research and booking stressful rather than fun

Independent travel works well if

  • Trying local food outside a resort is a real priority, not just a nice-to-have
  • You want to see more than one town or area during the trip
  • You enjoy the planning part and don't find it stressful
  • You'd rather spend the same money on fewer, better experiences than a lot of included amenities you might not use

The hybrid option most people don't consider

Splitting the trip: three or four all-inclusive days to properly decompress right after the wedding, followed by three or four independent days exploring somewhere nearby once you've actually recovered. You get the low-effort recovery period and the exploration, in the order your energy levels can handle.
