Honeymoon destinations that don't feel like everyone else's honeymoon

Nothing wrong with the classics. But if part of what you want from a honeymoon is the sense of having found somewhere, rather than following a well-worn route through the same infinity pools everyone else booked, a handful of destinations deliver the same feeling with a fraction of the crowds.

Instead of Santorini, try Naxos

Same Cycladic whitewashed architecture and blue-domed churches, a fraction of the tourists, and beaches that are actually swimmable rather than a strip of sunbeds. It's a forty-five minute ferry from Santorini if you want to do both, but Naxos alone is a proper honeymoon in its own right.

Instead of Bali, try Flores

Also in Indonesia, a short flight from Bali, home to Komodo National Park and some of the best diving in the world, with a fraction of the development. It's a better fit for couples who want adventure alongside relaxation rather than beach clubs and rooftop bars.

Instead of the Amalfi Coast, try Puglia

Southern Italy without the coastal road traffic jams and the premium prices that come with Positano's name recognition. Whitewashed trulli houses, olive groves, and a coastline that's just as beautiful without the same crowds funneling through the same three towns.

Instead of the Maldives, try Zanzibar

White sand, turquoise water, overwater-adjacent luxury resorts, at a noticeably lower price point, plus the option to combine it with a Tanzanian safari beforehand for a genuinely once-in-a-lifetime two-part trip.
