The groom's grooming timeline, for guys who've never thought about any of this before

Most wedding beauty content assumes a bride's routine and skips the groom's side almost entirely, which leaves a lot of first-time grooms with no real plan beyond a haircut the week of.

2 to 3 months out

If skincare has never really been part of your routine, start a basic one now: a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer, used daily. This is enough lead time to see a genuine difference in skin condition by the wedding without needing anything elaborate.

1 month out

If you're growing or shaping facial hair for the day, this is the point to settle on the final style and start maintaining it consistently, rather than deciding at the last minute and showing up with an uneven, half-grown beard.

1 to 2 weeks out

Get your actual wedding-day haircut now, not the day before. Hair needs a few days to settle and look natural rather than fresh-off-the-chair sharp. Book a trim closer to the date if needed, but the main cut should happen with some buffer.

The day before

A clean shave (or a careful trim, if keeping facial hair) the evening before, not the morning of, avoids razor irritation showing up in photos taken just hours later.
